Get the Best AC Repair Arlington, TX Has To Offer

From Comfort Experts HVAC Services - Home of the Perfect AC Technician

When the scorching heat of summer hits Arlington, TX a well-functioning air conditioner can be your best friend. But what happens when your air conditioner decides to go on vacation during the hottest days of the year? That's where a residential air conditioning repair service company comes to the rescue!

The Importance of a Well-Functioning Air Conditioner

Your home should be a sanctuary where you can find comfort and relaxation. A properly working air conditioner ensures that your indoor environment remains cool and pleasant, even when the temperature soars outside. Aside from the obvious comfort factor, a well-functioning AC unit also helps improve indoor air quality, prevents heat-related illnesses, and protects your valuable furniture and electronics from heat damage. And when you need to replace your old heating and cooling system, we'll be there to walk you through the process with options that fit you budget.

Signs of a Failing Air Conditioning System

If you recognize these signs early, it can save you from a complete system breakdown.

  • Unusual Noises - If your air conditioner suddenly starts making strange noises, like rattling, grinding, or squealing, it's a clear sign that something is amiss. Unusual sounds often indicate loose or worn-out components that need immediate attention.
  • Weak Airflow - Is your AC blowing weak or barely cool air? Poor airflow might be caused by clogged air filters, ductwork issues, or a failing compressor.
  • Frequent Cycling - Does your AC turn on and off frequently? This short cycling not only hinders your comfort but also increases energy consumption, leading to higher utility bills.
  • Escalating Energy Bills - Speaking of utility bills, a sudden surge in energy costs without any other explanation could be attributed to an inefficient air conditioning system.
  • Uneven Cooling- Are some rooms in your house significantly cooler than others? Inconsistent cooling indicates possible ductwork problems or imbalances in your AC system.

DIY Troubleshooting: When to Attempt and When to Avoid

Almost everyone is a self-proclaimed HVAC expert (we're kidding) and wants to be able to do things before calling a heating and cooling company.

There are some DIY things you can check that include:

  • Cleaning or Replacing Air Filters
  • Checking Thermostat Settings
  • Clearing Condenser Unit Debris
  • Addressing Clogged Drainage

Know when to seek professional help because anything else should and can be handled by the heating and air conditioning professionals you choose. Some of the perks of choosing a professional cooling repair company include experience, expertise, timely solutions, enhanced longevity of your HVAC system, and overall safety and assurance.

HVAC, Plumbing and Electrical Service FAQs

What are some ways I can save money on my heating and cooling costs in my Arlington home?

Saving money on heating and cooling costs in Arlington, TX, often involves a combination of energy-efficient practices and strategic home maintenance that include:

  • Schedule annual HVAC maintenance for your heating and cooling systems.
  • Install a programmable thermostat to automate temperature adjustments based on your schedule.
  • Seal gaps and cracks in doors, windows, and around pipes to prevent warm or cool air from escaping.
  • Ensure your home is adequately insulated, including walls, attic, and floors.
  • Use ceiling fans to circulate air.
  • Keep curtains and blinds closed during the hottest part of the day to block out sunlight and reduce the heat entering your home.
  • Replace incandescent bulbs with energy-efficient LED or CFL bulbs.
Can HVAC run on solar in Arlington?

Yes, HVAC systems can be powered by solar energy near Arltington, TX. Solar-powered HVAC systems utilize energy from the sun to generate electricity, which is then used to operate heating and cooling components. If you are looking to save money on their energy bills and reduce their environmental impact this would be a great option to consider.

How much does it cost to replace an AC unit in Arlington?

The cost to replace a Central AC unit in Arlington, TX will be between $5,000 – $12,000 on average.

Here are some factors that can affect the cost of replacing an AC unit:

  • Unit size and type: Larger units and higher-efficiency models (measured in SEER rating) generally cost more.
  • Brand and warranty: Premium brands and longer warranties can increase the price.
  • Labor costs: Rates vary by company and complexity of the installation.
  • Ductwork and electrical work: If additional modifications are need, it will add to the overall cost.
  • The size of your home: A larger home will require a larger AC unit, which will be more expensive.
  • The type of system: Whether your looking to install a ductless mini split, gas or electric central air conditioning system will determine your overall cost.
How do I know if my water heater needs repair or replacement in Arlington?

To determine if your Arlington water heater needs to be repaired or replaced check the following signs include:

  • Low water pressure: If you notice that your hot water pressure is lower than usual, it is a sign that your water heater may not be working properly. This can be caused by a variety of things, including a faulty thermostat, a clogged sediment trap, or a buildup of sediment in the tank.
  • No hot water: If you don't have any hot water at all, it is a sign that your water heater has a serious problem. This could be caused by a number of things, including a blown fuse, a tripped circuit breaker, or a faulty water heater.
  • Age: Water heaters typically last between 8 and 12 years. If your water heater is older than 10 years, it is likely time to start thinking about replacing it.
  • Leaks: If you see any water leaking from your water heater, it is a sign that there is a problem. Leaks can be caused by a variety of things, including a faulty tank, a loose fitting, or a crack in the piping.
  • Rusting: If you see rust on the outside of your water heater, it is a sign that the tank is corroding. This can lead to leaks and other problems.
  • Strange noises: If you hear strange noises coming from your water heater, such as banging, hissing, or rumbling, it is a sign that there is a problem. These noises can be caused by a variety of things, including sediment buildup, a faulty heating element, or a cracked tank.
  • Your water has an unusual smell.
What DIY methods are effective for clearing minor drain clogs in my Arlington home?

Try some of these DIY methods to clear minor drain clogs in your Arlington area home:

  • Boiling Water
  • Baking Soda and Vinegar
  • Plunger
  • Salt and Hot Water
  • Plumbing Snake or Wire Hanger

While chemical drain cleaners are an option, use them with caution, as they can be harsh on pipes and may pose safety risks.

Can I perform electrical repairs myself?

No you should not try to perform electrical repairs yourself unless you have some type of formal electrical training and certification. Performing electrical repairs without proper knowledge and experience can be dangerous. It's best to hire a licensed local Arlington electrician for any electrical work to ensure safety and compliance with electrical codes.

When should I consider upgrading my electrical panel in my Arlington home?

If you have safety or increased power demands and your Arlington home was built more than 25 years ago, you should consider upgrading your electrical panel.

Here are some key signs to watch for:

  • Outdated panels may lack modern safety features like circuit breakers that trip quickly to prevent overheating and fire risks. Newer panels offer enhanced safety mechanisms.
  • If your house has aluminum wiring it can deteriorate and pose fire risks. Upgrading to a panel compatible with copper wiring.
  • If circuits are constantly tripping due to overloaded appliances, it indicates insufficient capacity.
  • Modern appliances like high-end refrigerators, electric vehicles, and hot tubs draw significantly more power. Your current panel might not be equipped to handle their combined load.

Even without immediate needs, upgrading to a panel with higher amperage (e.g., 200 amp) prepares your home for future electrical demands, like additional appliances or potential solar panel installations.

For this eval I inspected the air handler and condenser. Upon entering the home and inspecting the air handler I saw the coil was freezing and dripping water onto the filter. I went outside and gauged up, the superheat and subcool were both way above where it should have been with a TXV metering device. I inform the customers that with a freezing coil there is a leak and upon elite searching I found the week in the EVAP coil. I'm from the customer the pricing for refrigerant however that with a leak it would continue to leak out and recommended a comfort advisor come speak to them, and they said they would discuss it tonight and get back with the office tomorrow.

Arrived for service evaluation On arrival compressor was in thermal overload Fan motor Measured at almost 185 degrees Compressor at 150 Used house to cool both until thermal overload reset Dual run cap that was replaced by previous tech is the wrong size for the fan motor - likely the cause of the fan motor over heating System showing low on refrigerant Air handler is zoned but does not have a zone bypass duct - both of these will strain and cause a compressor to over heat and fail No p trap on the secondary drain line to prevent it from sucking attic air and lowering efficiency Homeowner will have the builders contactor come out and fix the system

On arrival system was running and cooling producing a 18 degree delta. Furnace was clean and the only issue was flex line connecting to the gas valve. The blower and coil were clean and the drain line flowed when flushed. Outdoor units capicator was out of tolerance and the compressor overamped on start up. I recomended replacing the capicator and adding a compressor saver kit to remedy this. Customer is going to call home warranty company first.

AC Repair. System wasn't cooling upon my arrival. After troubleshooting found that the cap wiring had arced at some point and severed main power to dual run cap. I replaced the cap and repaired wiring under warranty p&l. Outdoor started running at this time went inside to test temp of supply blowing 74 after it had been running about 10 minutes . Upon closer inspection refrigerant level is was way below normal levels leak found on indoor coil. Advised customer to replace coil under warranty and also explained he would have to pay his deductible for freon. Paid service fee project balance still outstanding . Ordering and holding for parts will return to install upon acquisition of part. Gave a charge of 410a for temp cooling while waiting for part.
